Bibiana McHugh

Bibiana has worked in TriMet’s Information Technology Department since 1997 and currently leads a team of innovative web developers and analysts. She was at the forefront of the open data initiative in 2005 when she collaborated with Google for the first release of Google Transit and helped pioneer the now worldwide open standard General Transit Feed Spec (GTFS). Expanding TriMet’s developer resources since that time has led to the release of over 50 applications by third parties.

Bibiana initiated the OpenTripPlanner, an open source, multimodal trip planner that TriMet recently launched at maps.trimet.org. It uses all open data including OpenStreetMap. Worldwide contributions now include active deployments in over ten countries and translations into fourteen languages.
